Be Green in March
Posted by Helen Halloran on Mar 5th 2018
March is here and that always means green! Green for St. Patrick's Day and green to usher in spring, even though there's not much green outside yet. These days we no longer have to rely on the dyed green carnations to celebrate St. Patrick's Day.Instead we have an abundance of naturally green flowers to choose from like Bells of Ireland. Other green flowers include, hydrangea, button poms, fugi mums, dianthus, trachelium and many different foliages as well. More fun flowers for March are flowering branches. You can cut forsythia from your yard now and force it to bloom for an eyecatching and FREE display in your front hall or anywhere you want a splash of color. Just cut the branches and put them in extra warm water to get them started. You can add more warm water each day if you want to hurry them along. Sometimes we have cherry blossoms or quince this time of year, too. Be sure to call ahead to order flowering branches at least a week before you want them blooming as it takes some time to force them.
