Choosing Wedding Flowers

How much will my wedding flowers cost?
We often get asked this question by bride’s seeking information about their wedding flowers. As much as it would make everyone's lives easier if there was a simple answer, unfortunately there is not. There are so many factors that determine the cost of flowers for a wedding that until we meet with the bride we really can't even give a ball park figure.
First of all we need a basic outline of how many floral pieces are needed. Some simple weddings consist of a bridal bouquet, groom's boutonnière and a few corsages. Other weddings will include a large wedding party, ceremony decor and reception centerpieces. Within each of these categories, there are additional places where flowers could be used should your budget allow. One bride may want 2 altar arrangements, while another may want to add pew decorations, garlands of flowers for the church balcony, wreaths on the chapel doors, an aisle lined with petals, or any number of Pinterest inspired ideas, all of which come with a price tag.
Other considerations that will determine price are the flowers that are selected as well as the size/style of each bouquet. If the bride wants flowers that are out of season it will be more expensive than a selection of seasonal flowers. Also, there are certain flowers that are always more expensive such as garden roses, hydrangea, gardenias and certain varieties of orchids to name a few. `
The Consultation
As you have probably figured out by now, the only way a professional florist can give an estimate on your wedding flowers is to have a meeting to talk about all the options. Today most brides come armed with pictures from Pinterest. As inspiration these photos can be very helpful, but unfortunately they sometimes give a bride unrealistic expectations. Just because it's been pinned to your board does not mean it's available or affordable on your wedding day. Here at the Concord Flower Shop, we love Pinterest because it gives us a true understanding of the couple's style. We can suggest appropriate substitutions if necessary, while keeping the color and style preferences of the couple in mind. Often busy brides are communicating long distance through emails so we like to create an inspiration board on Pinterest where she can pin her ideas.
The Deposit
As soon as a bride knows which florist she trusts to make her wedding flower dreams a reality, she will be asked to leave a deposit. Every florist has their own policy regarding deposits and payments. Once we at Concord Flower Shop take a deposit, we save that date and depending on the size of the event, we may turn away other requests for our services which are why the deposits are not refundable. So when selecting a florist choose wisely, communicate well, then relax and let us do what we do best!
